Martin the Warrior, surrounded by other Mice of Redwall. From old Fathers and Brothers in their habits, to little adventurous Mousemaids and Dibbuns! I explored style and costuming in this piece.
Of course, the Heroes of Redwall and Mossflower all have the most incredible stories! From Martin, Luke and Mattimeo to the Squirrel Tribes, the Otter Skippers and the kind and caring Hedgehogs (and everyone in between), I love them all.
Brian Jacques created fantastic villains. Ungatt Trunn and his Blue Horde! And even sly Shrews (although they are mostly kind), this one is Fenno the bully.
The Maidens of Redwall (plus one little Dibbun) have always been strong and inspiring to me! I enjoyed playing around with some costume colours and ideas.
Here is a bonus piece! I really loved developing these Redwall characters so much, that I had an itch to do a few Harry Potter characters as small woodland creatures as well!
I am bilingual, and the way that I learned English was mostly through the Redwall series of books by Brian Jacques in the fourth grade. I read almost all of them over one summer and I was absolutely in love. The characters were fantastic, the accents had me laughing and the stories nestled in my heart and mind. It really is the basis for all of my love of Fantasy and Adventure, and it was really the beginning of my journey into reading and even writing.
