This is not Alice in Wonderland. This story is Alice's Wonderland. As in, the Wonderland belonging to Alice.
In Alice's Wonderland, everything and everyone is created by her. This little fox fell down a certain rabbit hole, and suddenly changed career paths.
Meet the rambunctious Tweedle Twins, the sleepy yet savage Mallyumkin, and the ever so astute, Absolem.
Ah, Ches. Yes you wouldn't want to meet Alice's Cheshire Cat. This one is rather less of a guide, and rather more of a mental instability.
The flowers are all talk and no action. They are the chitter of thoughts that run through Alice's mind.
Alice's characters still need to realize that this is not the Wonderland they know, and she is not the Alice they remember.
This series of drawings is a personal development project where I took the concept of Alice in Wonderland and turned it (almost literally) on its head. I'm interested in the idea of Wonderland being a manifestation of Alice's mental state, which means that things would change and develop depending on how her head is doing at the time. It also lends for a slight twist on the story, especially if Alice is slightly different to how she has been portrayed before. What if she's malicious instead of good? Cunning instead of curious? I look forward to developing this into a small comic series, and have already started publishing the short stories on my Instagram page @art.of.callisto.
